Bad Boy...Bad Boy...Whatcha gonna do.....

Today has been one of those ugly days.....It started early for me, about eight AM, and I got Buddy out of his dog kennel and started down the steps to chain him.....Hmmmmm.....what are those ice cream cone wrappers doing on the ground like that????......and then more problems...His dog house had been thrown into my huge water container that holds rain water....pots of flowers all dumped out....chairs overturned and thrown where they do not belong...the table moved across the yard and turned on its' side..the dog kennel outside had been filled with hay, so my coffee water is ruined....
..looked in the freezer to discover all of my ice cream cones but two were gone....I had bought two boxes..ten in each box....venison...gone...hamburger meat...gone...Benny's hot ketchup...gone....BBQ....gone. summer sausage and cheese...gone...and what else is gone, I have yet to discover....We went to get into my truck for church to only discover ice cream cones and ketchup smeared all over the windows , also all over Benny's truck.....we went on to church and came back in, and I called the Police to come and take a vandalism report.....the officer kept all the papers off the ice cream cones for fingerprints, and took pictures....I never touched the cones, just dropped them into the freezer, so hopefully we will get results off them....cannot figure out exactly who did this but I have one in mind....sadly, we do so much, for so many, and there are always a few bad apples in the bunch....but karma will come into play some day....somewhere.....some time....Benny had to wash the trucks as the acid will eat the paint.....cannot wait for a police report.....

Peas in the Pudding

Benny pulled a good one tonight....we had eaten dinner and he said he had to go lock up the chickens, and he would get some dessert later....I had some of the leftover bread pudding left, very small amount.....he hollered at me.....Why did you put peas in the pudding ? Told him I did not such thing....Well, he sAys, just come and look.....the pyrex dish was sitting on a decorated pot holder that has peas on it....I really got to laughing over this one......He was still laughing as he headed out the door to the chicken coop......

Remembering Jane....

I woke up in the middle of the night with our cousin, Jane on my mind....she has been gone for awhile , but I miss her...I felt closer to her than anyone in Benny's family...we both loved animals, she raised her horses and I raised my goats...we both loved coffee, and she always put a fresh pot on when we went to the old homeplace a Stephens County..I always loved her Christmas Cards, she drew them by hand, and they were always of horses....and one year she sent one in the mail to us and addressed it to "Dipsh** Callaway 's and I laughed till I cried..she thought it was hillarious as well...when she had a new foal, she called me and told me it was mine and she named it Derrier...LOL..when you visited her, it was not unusual to see a crow flying around in the kitchen and playing cards with you or talking, or a skunk pushing open a kitchen cabinet...and Jane would laugh...I miss her....but the memories are so vivid....She was a cancer survivor...she smoked a pipe and had to have part of her jaw and all the palate removed...she was a fighter...I would check on her and she would tell me to just wait till she put her prothesis in so I could understand her...then she told me she just could not eat peas anymore, she would put them in her mouth and they would fall out her nose....and we would both laugh till we cried...so many tears amoung the laugher...Love you, Jane

Little White Baby

I have played with a long haired little white shaggy dog all day...my story and I am sticking to it...LOL
Could not get the dogs to stop barking, here, and down at the old house...even the duck kept quacking..so I decided to go down in the pickup and see what I could see, and as I am backing out, there is a cute little long haired, white shaggy dog in the road.....I pulled back in and he came running to the truck...friendly little type...has a blue fabric collar on, I think......cannot really tell much in the dark....he went up on the porch and barked at the cat in the house, then came back down the steps, and I am thinking, what can I do to keep him from being run over tonight....so.........he is now in the big dog box...had no other choice but hopefully he will not dig out of it during the night, and tomorrow, I can find his Mom and Dad humans...so if you are missing a cute little white critter, give me a call......
Took white baby out for a walk, and he broke away...leash I have is old...so he took off and I was unable to go after him.....worried about him....saw him go with April as she pushed her baby in the stroller down the road....about thirty minutes later, my dogs were having a fit...white baby was back....he ran into my arms when he saw me on the porch....gotta find this baby's Momma.....LOL

Well, I have called everyone I know....seems like little white baby has been seen all over town....he had even been at the Feed Store a couple days....so I fear someone has cast him away....and he is such a cutie....I still have him in the dog box....we go for walks quite often, and he has had supper....sporting a new collar and leash now to replace the broken one.....will Just have to wait it out....I do not need another dog...and he does NOT like cats...LOL....and he has the most unusual color eyes....they are almost golden yellow...they even talked about his eyes at the feed store...he is really smart..even knows how to climb up into my truck and sit on the passenger seat....he heels perfectly...and freely gives kisses away.....

Flogging Rooster

I cannot keep a straight face..Benny came storming in the bedroom...asked me...."DO I LOOK LIKE A CHICKEN ?" LOL..seems the rooster got him out in the barnyard.....I just busted out laughing....told him he probably walked like a hen scratching out there and the rooster was confused....not to let the incident ruffle his feathers....what is so funny, is that the rooster NEVER bothers me.....just him........

Donkey Love

We went down to the barnyard to empty a bag of milo in the containers and I wanted to check for wild garlic growing on the back lots.....and as we walked, my donkey kept bumping me lightly in the butt with his head....he didn't stop until I turned around and he lifted his nose up for kisses....LOL...he is something else, from being so mistreated, to now be so loving toward me......Benny laughed as we walked along, said "You haven't lived until you live where a little donkey follows behind you all over the barnyard."..Yes, he is a special donkey....he has the softest nose..I could feel a few stickers in his nose, but he would not let me pull them out....he is a character....and as I got back in the truck, he threw a tantrum and started braying as loud as he could and kicking around the barnyard.....

The Spider

I wrote this years ago, but lost many of my stories when the blog I kept them at shut down and all was lost...so was grateful to find this one today...
The Spider...  (2006)
We went to a Rehab Dinner one night in the little town of Cottonwood. The women cook the best food, luscious pies and the money goes to the Rehab Center which helps those who have had stokes or any type of disability. They do so much good, and at no cost to those who cannot afford it. After we finished eating, it was time to go into the auditorium to listen to the local country bands, Each one has a specified amount of time that they play and sing, such wonderful music, so gifted, so talented, it is a blessing to sit and listen to them. While we were sitting there listening to a beautiful version of Danny Boy, a huge Granddaddy Longlegs spider fell from the ceiling onto Benny's hand, and then it came across onto me, and he flicked it off me, and it landed on the person to my right, ran across her skirt, and the next lady had a cane and she hollered, began to hit at the spider with her cane, the floor and also hitting the chair in front of her, and then it ran across the lady on the end seat, and she jumped up and began to wave her skirt as if she was fanning a fire, and I got down, I was laughing so hard the tears were rolling down my face. I said, “It is only a granddaddy longlegs, it won't hurt you.” to which she replied, “it is still a durn* (*nice version only) spider” and I laughed even harder. Country ways are always great and full of fun. I bet that spider could have won a marathon race.
